Jerry has worked in professional archaeology for 25 years, having starting with Archaeology Wales in 2011. He has been involved in a large number of projects, including numerous excavations, evaluations and watching briefs where he acted as the principal Supervisor.  He has worked on sites ranging in date from the Lower Paleolithic to the post-WWII period, primarily Bronze Age, Iron Age and medieval, although more recently he supervised a predominantly Roman urban site located within modern Carmarthen.

Prior to his employment with Archaeology Wales Jerry worked on a number of large infrastructure projects, including the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, Heathrow Terminal Five and the Heads of the Valleys road project.  He has also worked in the Middle East and the Netherlands.

His academic interests are diverse, although his main focus remains the post Roman to Pre-Norman Period. Jerry has been involved in excavations on Viking sites in Wales and Scotland and he has published works as a specialist on Late Atlantic and Norse pottery.

He is a graduate of Cardiff University (1996), for whom he supervised field school trainee excavations, and he also fulfilled a similar role for the University of East Anglia and for the University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s. He has supervising community excavations for Archaeology Wales.
