Our Company

Archaeology Wales, along with our subsidiary company* Archaeology England, work across Wales and England offering independent services to businesses, communities and individuals. We are situated in Treforest Industrial Estate, Pontypridd. Finds and environmental processing, the analysis of artefacts, ecofacts, paleoenvironmental samples and human remains, and finds storage all occur in our facility in Treforest Industrial Estate, Pontypridd.

Our archaeologists are experienced and locally based, which helps us to provide services that are both high quality and cost-effective, while our commitment to training and innovation underlines our determination to continually enhance the range and value of the products we offer.

We work on projects of all sizes, from national infrastructure schemes and construction projects, to small one-off developments and programmes of community engagement. Our teams are experienced in working as part of joint ventures and we welcome the opportunities presented by working collaboratively with other organisations.

Our archaeologists have worked extensively across Wales, in every local authority, national park and curatorial region, from sites in remote upland and mountain areas to those in towns, valleys, rural settlements and off-shore locations.

We have successfully undertaken hundreds of desk-based studies, non-intrusive surveys, and fieldwork investigations, ranging in scope from Neolithic settlement sites to modern military installations. We have worked on some of Wales’ most prestigious castles and abbeys, but also on important industrial and domestic sites.

Our standards are high and our advice is always impartial; we are fully independent of local authority control and we have no commercial links to any other company. Whether we are dealing with an experienced planning consultant or someone who’s never commissioned an archaeological service before, our approach is always professional and we always aim to give the best advice available.
