Phil Poucher

BA (Hons), MCIfA, Senior Project Manager

Phil joined Archaeology Wales as a Project Manager in 2013 and is based in the Southwest Wales office in Swansea. He is a Member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists and has nearly 20 years of experience as a professional archaeologist.

Phil started his professional career in commercial archaeology after graduating with a BA in History and Archaeology from Reading University in 1998. He moved to Wales in 2003 after a few years of working with a number of different archaeological companies and has been living and working there ever since. Phil has worked on a number of wide-ranging archaeological excavations, from complex urban archaeology in Canterbury and large-scale projects at Heathrow, to industrial archaeology in the South Wales valleys and environmental archaeology in the Ceredigion peat-bogs.

Phil manages projects throughout Wales and into England, overseeing them from set-up to post-excavation work, and has written and contributed to a large portfolio of reports. Alongside fieldwork, Phil also produces desk-based assessments, settings impact studies, ASIDOHLs and contributions to environmental impact assessments.
