Mark has been Managing Director of Archaeology Wales since the company was founded in 2010. More recently, he has been involved in setting up and managing the subsidiary company Archaeology England. He is based in the mid Wales office in Llanidloes, Powys, from where he focuses on business development. Mark has been a Member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists since 1996 and is keen supporter of the continued professional development of archaeology.
Mark has an extensive background in commercial archaeological, having previously been Managing Director of Cambrian Archaeological Projects, and before that a senior Project Manager with Canterbury Archaeological Trust. While at Canterbury, Mark co-directed a series of major urban excavations in the Whitefriars area of the city.
Mark’s academic interests are varied, although he has a particular interest in the urban archaeology of the late antique period.
